Lower Zambezi
The park covers an area of 4092 square kilometres. Most of the game is concentrated along the valley floor.

Unfortunately the park was overlooked for many years and it is now Zambias newest park but definitely one of Zambias leading parks with a spectacular flood plain alongside the river. Wildlife is best viewed on the flood plain and along the Zambezi River itself. The park is still quite underdeveloped as compared to older parks like the South Luangwa National Park, but its glory lies in its wilderness state. The park does not boast of a wide range of animals but the opportunity to get close to the animals wandering in and out of the Zambezi channel is believed to be second to none. Herds of elephants, some up to 100, swimming across the river could be the highlight of the day.

The main entrance is at the Chongwe Gate along the south-western boundary although there are other entrances along the eastern and northern boundaries. Boat rides are very popular among all lodges and camps.
