Lake Kariba
Lake Kariba or Kariba Dam is one of the largest man-made inland lakes in Africa. It is 226 km long and in certain areas up to 40 km with The Lake forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The hydropower generated by the dam and the turbines, represent the major supplier of electricity in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. After completion of the hydro plant Kariba town became a famous holiday resort with established lodges, house boats and boat cruises.
Lake Kariba is Zambia's undiscovered Riveira. The lake offers awesome views, astonishing sunsets, wonderful fishing opportunities and lovely water sports. The weather is mostly sunny and excellent although it can get quite hot in mid summer, but even mid winter days are warm and the nights are pleasant. The lake is so beautiful with features of a beach which makes some people forget that it is actually a lake and not a beach.
