Lusaka National Museum
This is a cultural history museum which narrates the story of Zambia in four main categories; witchcraft, history, ethnography and contemporary art. The museum collection is preserved in storage rooms. Other heritage objects are exhibited in two galleries on the ground and upper floors of the museum building. The lower gallery houses contemporary art, which highlight the way of life of the people of Zambia through models, sculptures and paintings. The upper gallery tells a story of Zambia’s development, from ancient to contemporary way of life. Children have not been left out too as there is a corner specifically dedicated to them. The museum was opened in 1996 and this makes it the youngest museum in the country. With the advantage of being located in the capital city it has proved to be a renowned tourist attraction and active research and educational institution.
