Things To Do
Livingstone Island
Livingstone Island is so named as it was the sight from which Scottish explorer David Livingstone first viewed the Victoria Falls.  He was paddled in a dug out canoe to the island which was then known as ‘Goat Island’.

Livingstone Island is a small island in the middle of the Zambezi River, just upstream from the Victoria Falls. Visitors are taken by powerful motor boats, with a skilled skipper, to retrace Livingstone’s steps and take in some of the best spectacular views of the ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ (The Smoke that Thunders).  This can only be done when the waters are low from around mid July to the end of January.  During the high water periods the Island is covered with water.
